To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the theatrical release of the first installment of Peter Jackson's trilogy, the Monnaie de Paris presents a collection of precious gold and silver coins dedicated to the legendary saga of The Lord of the Rings in 2026. Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee silently leave the Shire, abandoning the tranquility of the hills and the safety of a preserved world. This step off the familiar path leads them down an unknown and dangerous path, dictated by the fate of the Ring.
Without certainty, the two Hobbits continue their journey, sustained by an unshakable friendship and the weight of a mission that transcends them. In leaving the Shire, they also leave behind their innocence, embarking on a quest whose outcome is still unknown.
The reverse of this coin shows the face value surrounded by two branches, one oak and the other laurel, recalling the euro symbol. The entire reverse design is framed by the inscription "République Française" and a series of lines representing the profile of France.
