HydroConquest GMT, the family grows
This year the Longines HydroConquest GMT line adopts a new 43 mm diameter case while maintaining intact all those characteristics that distinguish it as a collection inspired by the world of water sports: water resistance up to 30 bar (300 metres), robustness, unidirectional rotating bezel in ceramic, screw-down crown and caseback. Like the 41mm diameter models launched in 2023, the new HydroConquest GMTs house an exclusive Longines movement with multiple time zones, available in different colors and materials.
Longines HydroConquest watches, a mix of performance and style, are designed for those who love to push limits and explore new horizons. The collection launched in 2007 was enriched last year with a series of 41 mm diameter GMT models with a completely revised design. Today the family continues to grow and welcomes new models with a diameter of 43 mm. The latest generation stainless steel case, with screw-down caseback, alternates polished and satin surfaces and houses the exclusive Longines GMT caliber L844.5 with silicon hairspring, containing innovative components in non-magnetic materials. This movement is ten times more resistant to magnetic fields than the ISO 764 reference standard and boasts extreme precision as well as a 72-hour power reserve.
The new HydroConquest GMTs are available with black, blue or sun green dials, protected by a sapphire crystal with several layers of anti-reflective treatment. The indexes, round at 6 and 9 o'clock and triangle-shaped at 12 o'clock, are coated with Super-LumiNova®, ensuring optimal reading in all circumstances. The date window stands out at 3 o'clock. The arrow GMT indicator reflects the color of the decaled elements of the dial. On the flange, the 24-hour scale is displayed in two shades to indicate the transition from night to day.
HydroConquest GMT watches are water resistant to 30 bar (300 metres) and come with a screw-down crown. Another advantage for water sports enthusiasts is the unidirectional ceramic fluted bezel, topped by a luminescent capsule.
The new models are combined with stainless steel bracelets with H-shaped links, or with blue or black rubber straps. For greater comfort, all are equipped with a folding clasp with double safety system and micro-adjustment.
The GMT function
The watch equipped with the GMT complication is intrinsically linked to the pioneering spirit and history of the brand. In 1911, in fact, Longines filed a patent for the first pocket watch capable of indicating two time zones. It was preceded in 1908 by a model intended for the Ottoman Empire (Turkey) which allowed Turkish time to be converted into Western time. In 1925 the brand created for the first time a series of wristwatches indicating a second time zone. A story that continues to be written today through several flagship models such as the Longines Spirit Zulu Time, Longines Master Collection GMT and HydroConquest GMT.
